The evil of lack of attention.- Volume 6
Luisa- This morning, after I struggled very much, I saw Our Lord crucified. I was kissing the wounds of His hands, and
repairing and praying that He would sanctify, perfect, purify all human works for the sake of what He suffered in His most
holy hands; and blessed Jesus told me:
Jesus- “My daughter, the works which most exacerbate my hands, and which most
embitter and enlarge my wounds, are the good works done without attention. In fact, lack of attention takes life away
from the good work, and things which have no life are always near to rotting; therefore they nauseate Me, and for the
human eye a good work done without attention is a greater scandal than sin itself. In fact, it is known that sin is darkness,
and it is no wonder that darkness gives no life; but the good work which is light and gives darkness offends the human eye
so much, that it is no longer able to find light, and therefore it finds an obstacle on the path of good.”
Scripture Meditation- 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Matthew 13:22).
Prayer Reflection- O Lord we love You, we adore You, and we thank You because You tell us in no certain terms that the way we often, and most of society. lives our lives takes life away from the good works we think we are doing. Because how often are we just going through the motions- not attentive, distracted, just trying to check off boxes on our never ending to do lists, not even sure what we are doing any more and why we are doing it. We just know we are busy. We may even be burned out and exhausted. And in the middle of it we become martyrs of our own making and we tell ourselves that we are virtuous because our culture mixes up busy with just and good. But there we are- maybe taking it out on our loved ones or giving in to depression and numbing attachments like food, drink, doom scrolling social media, you name it. Because the reality is, Jesus, without You we can do nothing! (John 15:5). Instead of light we are shedding darkness and we become obstacles to good to all around us and we bear no fruit. O Jesus, only You can help us to be faithful and attentive as we unite each morning all of our prayers, works, joys and sufferings to Your Sacred Heart and in Your Most Holy Divine Will that we would be working for You and You alone (Colossians 3:23) because it is You alone that we serve. And when we work for You, in You, with You, and through You with Your Wisdom we can know what matters most and what matters least in Your Kingdom. Fiat!
