Description: Book of Heaven. Vol. 4, April 16, 1902. How to deal with passions. Everything is in repressing the first motions.
Luisa:
This morning my adorable Jesus was not coming. So, not seeing Him come, I said: ‘What am I still doing in this state, if the object that held me captured does not come any more? It is better if I finish it once and for all. ’ As I was saying this, my sweet Jesus came for a little while, and told me:
Jesus:
“My daughter, everything is in repressing the first motions; if the soul is attentive in this, everything will go well; but if she is not, at the first motions which are not repressed, passions will come out and break the divine fortress which surrounds the soul like a hedge in order to keep her well guarded, and to move away from her the enemies which always try to lay traps on her, and to harm the poor soul. However, if as soon as she perceives it, she enters into herself, humiliates herself, repents, and remedies it with courage, the divine fortress closes again around the soul; if on the other hand she does not remedy it, the divine fortress, broken as it is, will let all vices rush in. Therefore, if you want the fortress not to leave you alone even for one instant, be attentive to the first motions, thoughts and words which are not upright and holy, because once the first ones have escaped you, it is no longer the soul that reigns, but rather, the passions dominate. ” (Book of Heaven/Divinewillapp.com)
Scripture- 41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41).
Reflection– O Lord we love You, we bless You, and we adore You because You give us the way to deal promptly with temptations. As soon as we feel that annoyance, have that word on our lips, have that thought in our minds we are to turn to You so that You can keep us protected in Your Divine Fortress. But how often, Lord we just give in, not a thought of prayer or calling out to You and there we are ruled again by our passions. And we say that word we can’t take back, ruminate on those resentful thoughts until we are judging rashly and lashing out, and lose our patience and everyone around us is put on edge. Yet even then it is not too late, in Your Mercy you run to our aid when we repent in humility, and help back into the fortress, no longer lost in the forest of our human will apart from You! And sometimes we need to run to the Sacrament of Reconciliation but always we can run to You immediately! What a good God You are! All for Your Glory and the good of all, fiat!
